WIN Time (What I Need?) aka: RtI

  • Communicate frequently with your child’s teacher.
  • Attend school activities such as conferences and school sponsored activities.
  • Praise your child for any progress or improvement.
  • Share with your child’s teacher what works well at home.
  • Always ask questions when things are not clear!

Perhaps the greatest benefit of an RtI approach is that it allows for early help or support within the general education setting. Through school-wide data collection, monitoring student progress, and teacher input, students are identified and changes in instruction are put into place to address learning needs. Frequent data collection determines the effectiveness of the instruction and if modification are required.

The mission of the Lostant School District is to provide a safe teaching and learning environment where all students are given the educational opportunity to reach their highest potential. We are committed to the ongoing improvement of programs, curriculum, facilities, and staff reflecting the community it serves. We strive to challenge our students not only to effectively compete in an increasingly competitive world.

** WIN time notifications will be sent home at the end of August after benchmark testing is completed.

Attendance

Consistent attendance and active participation at school are crucial for a child’s educational growth, social development, and sense of responsibility. By being present every day, your child can stay on track with their learning, build strong relationships with peers and adults, and cultivate a positive attitude towards school. We are here to work with you to support your child’s success and encourage their daily engagement in school.

We understand that sometimes absences are unavoidable due to illness or family emergencies. Also, vacations can be excused by the Principal but prior notice is required. Please reference the District Calendar that were available at registration and can be found on the school website.

Hallway- Restroom Visits = Missed Class time

Student safety is a key goal when setting hallway behavior expectations. Students may be wandering hallways when they’re supposed to be in class. Students meeting up in hallways can lead to issues like friend groups that are loud and disruptive, vandalism, negative social interactions or bullying. Protocols and procedures to monitor these kinds of issues will be enforced consistently.

Transportation

Bus riders should be at stops 10 minutes early as drivers learn their routes. For pick-up/drop-off questions, call Johannes at (888) 712-3506 or the school office at (815) 368-3392.

If daily transportation changes- please call the office before 2:00 PM.

Lostant Leaders- 7 Habits for success

Habit 1: Be proactive. You’re in charge of your learning! Check TeacherEase for grade progress.

Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind. Have a plan. Always check your Google Classrooms for assignments and make sure you have all work turned in.

Habit 3: Put first things first. Work first, then play. Practice your reading and math skills using apps like IXL. Studies show that studying shows!

Habit 4: Think Win-Win! Everyone can win, especially with testing goals. Get a good night’s sleep before any AIMS Web, MAP, or IAR testing days.

Habit 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood. Listen before you talk. Ask questions to make sure you are understanding your teacher and the lesson.

Habit 6: Synergize! Together is better. As a school community, we are here to make learning fun and provide you with the resources you need to be successful.

Habit 7: Sharpen the saw. Balance feels best. Believe that you can attain your goals when being a leader. Give yourself some grace and you will make progress and results will show.
