Faith Journey—Nicodemus
كان انسان من الفريسيين اسمه نيقوديموس رئيس لليهود، هذا جاء الى يسوع ليلا و قال له يا معلم نعلم انك قد اتيت من الله معلما لان ليس احد يقدر ان يعمل هذه الايات التي انت تعمل ان لم يكن الله معه. (يو 3 : 1 – 2 )
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him". (Joh 3 : 1 – 2 )
قال لهم نيقوديموس الذي جاء اليه ليلا و هو واحد منهم، العل ناموسنا يدين انسانا لم يسمع منه اولا و يعرف ماذا فعل. (يو 7 : 50 – 51 )
Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them, "Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?". (Joh 7 : 50 – 51 )
و جاء ايضا نيقوديموس الذي اتى اولا الى يسوع ليلا و هو حامل مزيج مر و عود نحو مئة منا، فاخذا جسد يسوع و لفاه باكفان مع الاطياب كما لليهود عادة ان يكفنوا. (يو 19 : 39 – 40 )
And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds.
Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. (Joh 19 : 39 – 40 )

Came by Night
هذا جاء الى يسوع ليلا و قال له يا معلم نعلم انك قد اتيت من الله معلما لان ليس احد يقدر ان يعمل هذه الايات التي انت تعمل ان لم يكن الله معه (يو 3 : 2)
This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him" (Joh 3 : 2)
يقترب من الإيمان بحذر
Approaching Faith with Caution
الدوافع : المنطق والعقل ( اَيات يسوع ... لا يمكن تجاهلها )
Motivated by Logic and Reason (Miracles of Christ... Could Not be Ignored )
الخوف من التأثير والتبعية
Driven also by Fear of Influence and Attachment

2- إكتشاف الجهل:

اجاب نيقوديموس و قال له كيف يمكن ان يكون هذا، اجاب يسوع و قال له انت معلم اسرائيل و لست تعلم هذا. (يو 3 : 9 – 10 )
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, "How can these things be?“ , Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?. (Joh 3 : 9 – 10 )

و ليس احد صعد الى السماء الا الذي نزل من السماء ابن الانسان الذي هو في السماء.
الحية النحاسية رمز لصلب الخطية، و كما رفع موسى الحية في البرية هكذا ينبغي ان يرفع ابن الانسان.
"No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, [that is,] the Son of Man who is in heaven, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,.
لكي لا يهلك كل من يؤمن به بل تكون له الحياة الابدية، لانه هكذا احب الله العالم حتى بذل ابنه الوحيد لكي لا يهلك كل من يؤمن به بل تكون له الحياة الابدية. (يو 3 : 13 – 16 )
"that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (Joh 3 : 13 – 16 )

There was also a political aspect to consider
فجاء الخدام الى رؤساء الكهنة و الفريسيين فقال هؤلاء لهم لماذا لم تاتوا به، اجاب الخدام لم يتكلم قط انسان هكذا مثل هذا الانسان، فاجابهم الفريسيون العلكم انتم ايضا قد ضللتم.
Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?“ , The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!“, Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived?.

العل احدا من الرؤساء او من الفريسيين امن به، و لكن هذا الشعب الذي لا يفهم الناموس هو ملعون، قال لهم نيقوديموس الذي جاء اليه ليلا و هو واحد منهم.
"Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?, "But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed“, Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,.

العل ناموسنا يدين انسانا لم يسمع منه اولا و يعرف ماذا فعل، اجابوا و قالوا له العلك انت ايضا من الجليل فتش و انظر انه لم يقم نبي من الجليل. (يو 7 : 45 – 52 )
"Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?“, They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee". (Joh 7 : 45 – 52 )

Escalating Events
فكثيرون من اليهود الذين جاءوا الى مريم و نظروا ما فعل يسوع امنوا به، و اما قوم منهم فمضوا الى الفريسيين و قالوا لهم عما فعل يسوع، فجمع رؤساء الكهنة و الفريسيون مجمعا و قالوا ماذا نصنع فان هذا الانسان يعمل ايات كثيرة. (يو 11 : 45 – 47 )
Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him, But some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them the things Jesus did, Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, "What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. (Joh 11 : 45 – 47 )

تصاعد الأحداث
Escalating Events
ان تركناه هكذا يؤمن الجميع به فياتي الرومانيون و ياخذون موضعنا و امتنا، فقال لهم واحد منهم و هو قيافا كان رئيسا للكهنة في تلك السنة انتم لستم تعرفون شيئا، و لا تفكرون انه خير لنا ان يموت انسان واحد عن الشعب و لا تهلك الامة كلها. (يو11: 48 – 50 )
"If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation“,
And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all, "nor do you consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should perish". (Joh 11 : 48 – 50 )

و كان ايضا رؤساء الكهنة و الفريسيون قد اصدروا امرا انه ان عرف احد اين هو فليدل عليه لكي يمسكوه (يو 11 : 57)
Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a command, that if anyone knew where He was, he should report [it,] that they might seize Him (Joh 11 : 57)

و لما علم بولس ان قسما منهم صدوقيون و الاخر فريسيون صرخ في المجمع ايها الرجال الاخوة انا فريسي ابن فريسي على رجاء قيامة الاموات انا احاكم، و لما قال هذا حدثت منازعة بين الفريسيين و الصدوقيين و انشقت الجماعة، لان الصدوقيين يقولون ان ليس قيامة و لا ملاك و لا روح و اما الفريسيون فيقرون بكل ذلك. (اع 23 : 6 – 8 )
But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Men [and] brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged !“, And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees; and the assembly was divided, For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection and no angel or spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. (Act 23 : 6 – 8 )

ثم ان يوسف الذي من الرامة و هو تلميذ يسوع و لكن خفية لسبب الخوف من اليهود سال بيلاطس ان ياخذ جسد يسوع فاذن بيلاطس فجاء و اخذ جسد يسوع، و جاء ايضا نيقوديموس الذي اتى اولا الى يسوع ليلا و هو حامل مزيج مر و عود نحو مئة منا.
(يو 19 : 38 – 39 )
After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave [him] permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus, And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. (Joh 19 : 38 – 39 )
