  • Find some containers or boxes at home, and, some things you can fill them with (e.g. a bucket, a cup and water)
  • Estimate how many of the things you have (e.g. cups of water) it will take to fill the container
  • Each time you fill your container, count and make a tally mark
  • After you have finished, count the tally marks…was your estimate close?

E.g. I estimate that it will take 20 cups of water to fill my bucket. Use a cup of water to pour into the bucket and make a tally mark for each cup poured in. Then, at the end, count the tally marks to see if your estimate was close.
