President’s Report

How did We Get to This Team

  • The power and duty of the President outlined in Article V, Section 3, Part A of the ETA Bylaws state that the President appoints the spokesperson and other representatives to represent the Association in negotiations with the BOE, subject to the approval of the RA.
  • On May 24th, the ETA voted down a TA 1438-639.
  • Members from the team stated they would not return to the table. In addition, there was already a slot to be filled on the team.
  • Results of the survey sent out after the TA was voted down indicated that there were a number of issues with the TA.

Motions from the Board of Directors 8/22

  • A motion was made that a joint statement or a step and lane bargaining statement from the ETA would be approved by a majority of the board before being sent to members. Discussion followed and the question was called. The motion passed.
  • A motion was made to develop a communication plan by September, or what we feel is an appropriate date, that includes discussion at the ETA Board level before all member notifications of ETA business are sent, excluding items such as meeting reminders and greetings. Discussion followed and the question was called. The motion passed.
  • A motion was made that a survey being sent to the membership be brought to the Board and that the results be shared at the next Board meeting. Discussion followed and the question was called. The motion passed.

Contract Improvement Committee (CIC) - We have received an outpouring of interest and are trying to structure teams so that we have full member voice. We will be sending out invitations asking.

Isabel Torres has agreed to Co-chair this committee pending board approval.

The four other workgroups will be welcoming new members to help guide discussions in these area. Please reach out if interested.

Section 3 Secondary Section Directory

Prior to the RA, the building reps from Larking, Kimball, and Abbott gathered to vote for a member to replace Scott Sternal as the Section 3 Secondary Director. By unanimous decision the section elected Lisa Whitmer to fill the seat. This term will expire in May of 2019.
