We can use be going to to talk about the future when we are sure something is going to happen.

use be going to to talk about future plans and intentions. Usually the decision about the future plans has already been made.

I’m going to move to a new place next week.

use be going to to predict something that we think is certain to happen because we have evidence for it now.

Shall

  • Shall” is used to indicate future action. It is most commonly used in sentences with “I” or “we”

  • It is often found in suggestions, such as “Shall we go?”, promises or voluntary actions.

  • In formal English, the use of “shall” to describe future events often expresses inevitability or predestination.

  • Shall” is much more commonly heard in British English than in American English.
