AotW High Level Dream

To participate and shape the player run parts of the game through combat. When the history books are written, our names will go down in it as major players. We will participate in the politics of the player empires that form and be a tool of destruction for said politics. Furthermore we will be the aggressors, always the sword, rarely a shield.

“Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack." -Sun Tzu

AotW Ideals

  1. Professionalism
    • We PvP at a high level, but we’re not jerks about it
      • Focus on maintaining a solid reputation for AotW in SC
    • We enjoy the game and act like adults -- we want to play with people that have the same mindset
  2. Turning AotW into an integrated, highly-effective fighting force
    • Integrated Merc Corp with no divisions (roles work together seamlessly)
      • Tactical: marines and combat pilots
      • Combat Support: bombers, cap ships, EWAR, recon, assault ships (boarding), medics/SAR
      • Logistics: salvage, cargo, fuel, repair/engineering
    • No cap on Org size. Medium term goal (pre-launch) is to hit 200-500
    • Higher level of skill for tactical roles / more forgiving requirements for support + logistics
      • Dominate the leaderboards + build rep
      • Skill floor may decrease over time
    • Integrating all of these roles is also a requirement for any Empire gameplay, if we ever choose to go that route

Members should understand and agree with these goals. We do not want to police behavior.

Recruitment Requirements

Focus on Professionalism and Maturity. What you do reflects on the rest of the Org

  1. Attitude
    • Do people enjoy playing with this person? ie, do they fit into the culture of the org?
      1. This requires playing with AotW members for some time to prove themselves
    • Can they handle losing or things not working perfectly without getting upset/angry?
    • Do they avoid constant negativity or condescension?

  • Actions
    • Are they capable of maintaining AotW’s rep on social media, Spectrum, with CIG, or SC in general?
      • This includes not harassing CIG employees that hang out with AotW
    • Do they effectively communicate and understand teammates in combat situations?

  • Ability
    • Do they have the required skills to perform their role within a fleet op?
    • Do they understand the game and want to improve their performance?
    • If they are in a tactical role, are they in the top X%?
    • If logistics or support, do they meet the requirements on the following slide?

Logistics / Support Recruitment

The skill component for these roles is harder to judge than tactical roles. Instead, consider these attributes:

  1. Intelligence, adaptability, and reliability
    • Can they work within the greater fleet strategy to get the job done?
  2. Having the necessary equipment
    • Having the ships + gear
  3. Ability to articulate their plans and how they are going to succeed in that role
    • Most of this gameplay is far from implementation, but what is the player’s personal vision?

When adding the initial set of players for a role, we will need to be very cautious about selecting the right people.
