Stash the Trash Campaign

WCSA is trying to reduce food waste during lunch. In order to accomplish this task, we are asking students to separate the waste from lunch into 5 categories: Food Share, Trash, Recycle, Food Waste, and Milk/Juice.

Don’t forget, if you don’t eat untouched food, put it in the green food share cart!

What goes in the Food Waste bin?

Partly eaten food of any kind.

Food scraps such as:

  • Half eaten sandwiches
  • Fruit peels
  • Any partly eaten food

Food Waste!

What goes in the liquid bin?

  • Unfinished Milk
  • Unfinished Juice

Wait! Stop! Before you throw your containers with liquid in the recycling bin, empty out your liquids first!

No cartons in the liquid bucket!

What goes in the trash?

  • Wrappers of any kind
  • Plastic sporks, straws
  • Napkins, paper towels
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic Bags
  • Straw Wrappers

What goes in the recycle bin?

  • Clean plastic containers
  • Plastic Water/drink bottles
  • Clean Cardboard containers
  • Clean Paper bags

Wait! Stop! Before you throw your dirty containers with food or liquids in the recycling bin:

  • scrape the food waste into the food waste bin
  • empty out your liquids into the liquid bin!

When in doubt, throw it out!

If you forget where your lunch waste should go, ask a green team member, or an adult at lunch.

If you still aren’t sure…put it in the trash.

If we mix garbage into a recycling or food waste container, we have to throw it all away! So this is important:
