Session 1

Make sure to open this lesson on the Cobrowser!

To open the Cobrowser in a whiteboard space:

1. Join your session and switch your video settings to "Video Sidebar"
2. Open a whiteboard and click the Library tab
3. Access the Apps panel
4. Click on Cobrowser
5. Paste the URL of the website you want to share- this lesson!

Students and tutors can both interact with the Cobrowser by using the toolbar at the top of the whiteboard (mouse, draw tool, highlight tool, etc.)

Welcome to your first tutoring session! Here’s what we’re going to do today

Introductions!

Tutors and Students, answer these questions about yourself:

1. What’s your name?
2. Where do you live?
3. What are your interests? What do you like to do for fun?
4. Is there something or someone who is important to you?
5. Students- are you new to Step Up or did you have a tutor before? If you had a tutor, what did you work on before?

Draw a picture

Using the pen tool in the learning portal, draw a picture of something special to you. It can be something, someone, or an event that happened to you recently.

Parents, let’s confirm our tutoring schedule and goals!

Students – please see if your parents can join! Please help translate if needed. :)

1. Let’s confirm our session times. Will those still work for you? Let’s take a minute to create a calendar invite.
• If we need to miss a session, we can reschedule for another weekday or over weekend

Why is tutoring awesome?

• Tutoring is a great time for you to learn together and have fun while doing it.
• You’ll get to explore so many new topics and build new skills.
• You’ll try lots of new things.
• You will make a friend who will help you along the way.
• All of these will be important skills that will help you as you grow up!
