What are the Federalist Papers
The federalist papers are a series of 85 essays written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison. They where written between October 1787 and May 1788. The Papers were written to convince New Yorkers to vote in favor of the constitution.
Who wrote the papers
Three men wrote the Federalist papers. John Jay, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. John Jay wrote 5 papers. He was the first chief justice of the US supreme court. James Madison was the 4th president of the united states, He wrote 29. Alexander Hamilton wrote 51 essays. Hamilton was the first US secretary of treasury.
Did the papers work?
Yes. Yes they did. The reason we have a constitution today is because of these papers. About one month after essay #85, New Hampshire approved, and then the Constitution went into effect. Soon after, New York and Virginia confirmed.
