What Is Coaching

Coaching

Mentoring

  • Coaching is often shorter-term
  • Coaching focuses on performance and outcomes
  • Coaching sessions are structured with specific targets and goals and agendas.
  • Unlike mentoring, coaching is non-directive which means that it is about posing the right questions.
  • Mentoring is often longer-term
  • Mentoring focuses on the individual's development
  • Mentoring often has an open agenda
  • Mentoring is based on the experiences of the mentor and focuses on the development of the mentee as a whole person.
  • Mentoring is a lot more direct. It is about the mentor sharing their knowledge and experience and guiding them through direction.
  • Typically, mentoring is less structured than coaching

MM Coaching Values

One Assignment

We coach to empower others towards their assignment.

The bible is very clear that all believers have been tasked with the one assignment, to advance the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.. Matt 28:19, Matt 10:7-9

Unique Gifts

We help people to discover their gifts and bravely start to use them.

Each person was designed uniquely by God and that we each have the opportunity to steward and use what He has given us. 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 12:28, Romans 12:4-13

Different Dreams & Desires

We champion the dreams and desires God has given people.

Each of us were so uniquely made. Some of us are passionate about sport and others about literature. Some desire to serve the poor while others desire to build businesses to give the poor jobs. We celebrate these differences and make room for each person to pursue the dreams and desires God has given them. 2 Thessalonians 1:11, 2 Samuel 7:1-18

Respect

Coaching relationships are built on respect.

We respect each other's time and are punctual. We respect each person's journey and encourage them. We respect each other's personal boundaries, space and life.

Encourage

We encourage each individual to lay hold of what God has given them and boldly run with it.

Sometimes encouragement looks like verbal affirmation, sometimes it looks like challenging people out of their comfort zone. Encouragement is always propelling the person forward.

Key Verse

For we are God’s handiwork,

created in Christ Jesus to do good works,

which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Purpose Of MM Coaching Pathway

MM Coaching aims to launch Christians into either:

  1. Starting a micro church
  2. Starting an expansion mission
  3. Starting a prayer group

MM Coaching is designed for mature Christians.

It is not recommended for new disciples who are still forming their identity.

There is wisdom in not putting new disciples into leadership roles too early.
