Formula That Supports
An Overall K-12 Strategy
“In order to be successful,
professional learning communities (PLC’s)
must be embedded in the culture
of our school. Teamwork and collaboration
at Dearborn Public Schools is not an option,
it is who we are and what we do
as a part of our daily routine.”

Student Response
Haider - Fordson High School
“Working with them, I discovered it was consistency--not doing it tomorrow or next week--but do it now.”
“Now, what I am learning from them I am using at work, with my family, just dealing with people in general.”
Student Response
Mohamed- Edsel Ford High School
Mohammed attended EFHS through his sophomore year and went back to Yemen to complete schooling. Due to the civil war, he returned to Edsel Ford.
“Mr. Naimi helps me, overall, with time-management. I am able to graduate on time, with people I was in Head Start with.”
Mohamad balanced a co-op job, high school classes, night school and graduated on time!
Student Response
Ariana - Dearborn HS
“On my first day of high school, Mr. Minor pulled me aside and said, ‘I am here for you. If you need anything, I will be here for you.’”
“He makes me want to be a better student and better human.”
Evolution Of The Role
With graduation rates at an all time high, GIS are focused on continuing this work and digging deep into why the last 5% are still unsuccessful.
After analyzing the students who did not graduate in the last 5 years, no commonalities were found. Students had individual circumstances which the GIS are now more in tune to and are working to identify these signs earlier and continue to find solutions.
