  • People can become homeless for almost infinite reasons. Many homeless people become so only after social and political factors such as war or the housing crisis interfere with their job or ability to work.
  • Many more become homeless due to being injured and unable to work.
  • There are currently over 500,000 homeless people living in America today. Less than half of them are sheltered.

Ways to Help The Homeless

  • Donate to Project HOME.
  • Volunteer at or donate to a local shelter.
  • Provide non-financial goods like blankets and food to shelters.
  • Most importantly acknowledge local homeless people living on the streets and donate supplies for their health and hygiene.
