The Bug Lantern

  • The Hunter’s Guild has developed the Bug Lantern as a support gadget for gathering bugs used in crafting!

  • The Bug Lantern can be deployed on a map to spawn bugs and increase chances of encountering specific bugs you need to farm

  • These reusable bug lanterns can be loaded with specific herbs to increase the chances of encountering a specific type of bug
    • Alternate option: Guaranteed spawn but at the cost of a high amount of herbs

Visuals and Main Elements

  • A lantern-like appearance, mixing together industrial elements of modern-day bug lanterns and ornate ancient Japanese lanterns & temple lamps

  • Simple silhouette overall, with easily noticeable markings to be seen when deployed on the terrain (More finessed detailing like patterns fall within the silhouette)

  • An obvious glow which will attract bugs and help the player visually keep track of the gadget

  • Either deployed on the ground like a trap (medium-sized) or could possibly attach to the player’s outfit (small-sized), like the Scoutfly Cage in Monster Hunter World

Prop designs from the Rise and World series. Items like potions have stayed the same in most recent games.

Design Pillars

The Hunter’s Guild has developed this standard-issue item to all the hunters of Kamura.

Have a certain manufactured quality (in the universe’s standards) despite the ornateness of the Japanese influence.

Finesse and attention to detail is an essential aspect of Japanese culture.

Still have ornamental elements that affect both the silhouette and texturing of the prop.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter is a JRPG, largely known for sometimes over-the-top or physics-defying fantasy designs that still look visually pleasing.

Portray a certain degree of whimsicality and quirkiness.
