Intellectual Development Goals

Our goal for Technology Services involves seamlessly integrating technology with pedagogy, which means that technology should complement and enhance teaching and learning strategies.

    • Technology will empower our learners and personalize learning experiences:
      • Teachers have new ways of assessing student work and communicating this learning with parents using tools such as Google Classrooms and Spaces Edu.
      • Students can showcase their learning in multi-representation formats such as visually, orally or written expression. This is essential if we are to support a Universal Designs for Learning approach in our district
      • With access to technology, students have enhanced access to information, and interactive learning experiences. Our district site, Digmore, provides online resources available to students and staff.

    • Technology fosters Innovation in Learning
      • Technology can introduce new and creative ways of teaching and learning, such as virtual reality, robotics, and coding.

Human & Social Development Goals

Our goal for Technology Services is to support Inclusion and ensure that educational technology can be used to provide the access points necessary for all students to learn.

  • Our department partners with Set-BC (Special Education Technology) and Arc-BC (Adapted Resources Consortium – British Columbia)

    • Students who need alternative learning platforms are provided with devices from Set-BC and adapted materials from Arc-BC to support learning. For example, students with visual-impairment may need audio books instead of written text to access their learning materials.

  • Our department provides training to our EAs, Classroom Teachers and LATs in the use of technology
    • Students may need reader and scribe support in both numeracy and literacy, which can be accessed with technology such as Google Read & Write. This Google extensions includes features such as speech-to-text or text-to-speech.
