Radlers and Shandies Quick Explanations

Radler:

Radler originated in Germany and Austria and is typically a mix of beer and fruit soda or juice. “Radler” means “cyclist” in German. Traditionally, it's made with a lighter beer style like a lager or pilsner mixed with lemonade or lemon soda. Radlers are known for their crisp, refreshing character with a lower alcohol content compared to regular beers, making them great for easy drinking during outdoor activities or as a light afternoon refreshment.

Shandy:

Shandy, similar to Radler, is a blend of beer with a non-alcoholic beverage like lemonade, soda, ginger beer, or fruit juice. The name may come from the word “shandygaff” an older British name for beer mixed with ginger beer or ginger ale Originating in the United Kingdom, Shandies can vary widely in flavor depending on the type of beer and mixer used. They often have a sweeter taste compared to Radlers due to the use of lemonade or sweeter mixers. Shandies are appreciated for their ability to offer a flavorful and thirst-quenching alternative to plain beer, making them popular choices in pubs and social gatherings.
