The purpose of the Wellington Trades Academy (WTA) is …

Provide students with a head start in a trades area of interest
You will have an opportunity to “mix” in school and out of school learning
The programme will allow you to gain credits and skills towards BOTH NCEA and Trades standards and credits
The skills you will learn at the WTA will assist in preparing you for next steps - return to school, a Pre Apprenticeship polytech course, an apprenticeship or entry level employment
It is an exciting opportunity for you to start developing trades skills that are valued and needed by employers as well as supporting you to complete NCEA.

What does this mean for your subject choices and timetable lines for 2025?

You will have noticed that most courses are 2 days a week. This can/does have an impact on subject choices and lines

EG If you choose a 2 day course (Mon/Tues), you must choose your 3 school subjects - from only Lines 3, 4, 5

EG If you choose a 2 day course (Thurs/Fri), you must choose your 3 school subjects - 3 subjects from 4 lines - from Lines 1, 2, 3, 6

EG If you choose a 1 day course (Wed), you must choose your 4 school subjects - 4 subjects from 5 Lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6

Interested students should attend a meeting on Wed 25 Sept at 1.20 in M410 to get FINAL info and enrolment forms

All applications due to Mr Bhikha by Wed 18 Oct
NOTE: WHS does not make the decision about who is accepted - the Trades Academy staff makes that decision and informs the school - the school simply promotes, collects the enrolment forms and send them to the Academy.
