TIGER UP with Columbia Elementary Leadership and Character Academy (KDG-5)

Framework

-Once a month

-Two Year Mentorship

-Two Hour Delay Schedule for our Master Schedule of Classes but students will start school at normal time.

-1 hour=Classroom Instruction

-1 hour=Expert’s presentation/Assembly (most are local community members)

-Parents are invited to attend the 1 hr monthly assemblies (We are a team!)

-Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs

5th Grade Capstone Project

Topic:

Goal Setting (short and long term), impact to our community

Subjects: ELA , Math, and Technology

Purpose:

-Requirement for ALL 5th Graders

-To Connect ELA, Math, & Technology to The Real World

-To Stress the importance of Goal Setting for Short and Long Term.

Some Student Tasks will include:

-Blogging

-Interviewing MS & HS Students

-Setting both Short Term

and Long Term Goals

-Budgeting

-Planning for Advanced Training

&/or College

-Presentation and Technology Skills

Emergency Procedures-We will not be releasing students or letting people in the building until the emergency has been lifted.

Custody Paperwork

-No papers (Signed by a Judge) on File with the Office=No Custody Issue

Pick Up and Drop off Procedures:

A) Buses Only-Front of the building

B) Cars: Side of the building (Flow of Traffic)

Early Student Pickup

-Written Permission (if not you)

-Bring State Issued Photo ID

Important Information

Absences and Tardies

  1. A student will be considered habitually truant if the student is absent/ tardy after 5 or more consecutive school days, for 7 or more days in 1 month, or 12 or more school days in 1 school year.
  2. A student will be considered chronically truant if the student is absent/truant after 7 or more consecutive days, for 10 or more school days in 1 month, or 15 or more school days in 1 school year.
  3. Any student that is considered to be either habitually or chronically truant will be referred to the Knox County Juvenile Court System for Truancy.

Student Cell Phones at School:

-Student Cell Phones need to be OFF during school hours unless the teacher has given permission for it to be used for INSTRUCTIONAL USE.

-If parents need to get a hold of their children during school hours, they need to contact our main office.
