Additional Qualification NPA6 Scientific Technologies

  • Level 6 Qualification (same level as higher)
  • Fits in with higher course so not much extra work.
  • Assessed internally throughout the year
  • Assessment: - 3 maths for science tests using maths needed in chemistry anyway
  • 2 practical experiments with write up (Good practice for assignment)
  • Lab safety assessment
  • Fundamental Chemistry assessment (mix of N5 and Higher done just before prelim to help with revision
  • More or less a ‘free qualification’
  • Fallback option if higher exam is going to be too much.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Offer time and support to make sure your child is organised and has all the materials they need. You may want to go through their Google Classroom and also check progress on scholar throughout the year. (Pupils should have completed up to roughly what is covered on the slides at any point in the year)
  • Provide a quiet space for your child to concentrate and discuss how best to manage their phone during their allocated study time.
  • Help them create a study timetable which is structured but also allows for regular breaks.
  • Encourage your child to make contact with their teacher if they are feeling overwhelmed or struggling with a question.
