Introduction

  • Stress among mothers of children with ASD is becoming an increasingly serious issue due to their rising numbers.
  • Mothers of children with ASD are at risk of mental health challenges due to ineffective coping strategies and lack of awareness.
  • Stress management strategies must concentrate on providing safe and optimal care as the ASD population grows, especially for the often-unmanaged mental health.
  • Coping mechanisms and educational sessions are both beneficial for managing stress.

PICOT Question

  • In mothers of children with ASD aged 2-10 years (P), how does using mindful-based stress reduction (MBSR) to manage stress levels (I) compared to the use of nutrition or supplements (C) improve their mental stability (O) within six months (T)?"

Organizational Culture and Readiness

Problem Statement

  • Assisting mothers to cope with autism parenting are significant nursing practice concern. Early diagnosis and intervention can help children with autism attain their full potential and manage their parents' stress levels. This dissemination examines how the efficacy of mindful-based stress reduction (MBSR) compares to nutrition or supplements for stress management in mothers' mental stability within six months.

Literature Review

  • Finding peer-reviewed studies that address the PICOT question was the goal of the literature search.
  • The evidence-based practice project chose and examined eight research articles.
  • MBSR, mothers of children with ASD, and stress were prevalent themes in several of the articles.
  • To enhance the search and restrict the articles to those that addressed PICOT keywords were employed.

Literature Review Synthesis

  • The articles by Iadarola et al. (2019), Papadopoulos (2021), and Tathgur and Kang (2021) have common findings showing that raising children between 2-10 years with ASD causes stress among the mothers and caregivers
  • The articles by Reddy et al. (2019) and Schwartzman et al. (2021) affirm that parents of children with ASD experience stress because of their children's conditions.
  • Govindasamy et al. (2022), McCabe et al. (2020), and Sharma et al. (2022) articles affirm that MBSR is effective in reducing the stress level of mothers with ASD children (2-10 years) compared to diet supplementation

Implementation plan

  • The evidence-based intervention will be put into practice and run for six months.
  • The mothers' stress levels will be reviewed by nurses and psychologists.
  • A comparison of the two results will be used to evaluate the participants' average stress levels while using the MBSR and supplements.

  • Communication Quality
  • How the stakeholders perceive the program
  • Financial management and control

Conclusion

It is essential for healthcare practitioners, particularly nurses and mental health professionals, to emphasize the use of MBSR as a means of effectively and correctly managing the levels of stress experienced by mothers whose children have ASD. Educational sessions are necessary for effectively managing pain as it is anticipated that this intervention will enhance stress management levels, increase the quality of life for both mothers and children, and offer valuable ways to cope with stress.
