OUR COMMUNITY
PHONG THANH is a commune of Cau Ke distric, Tra Vinh province at lower Mekong Delta.
- Total population is 15.000 people.
- The poverty rate is 20%
- Ethnic people accounted for 30% total population.

WHY WE DO

The lack of facilities, technical and teaching facilities of educational institutions and the level of disparity between urban and rural areas, has been an important factor leading to inequality on conditions and opportunities for access to education between urban areas and rural areas.

OVERVIEW
From September 2015 to February 2016 ECO Vietnam Group raised the idea
development and built the library that is supported by commune.
The land is contributed by commune. ECO Vietnam Group supported construction costs.

EVG Community Library is founded to creative an educative and open environment where people can learn and exchange knowledge about all aspects of life. It contribute to the reduction of inequality in information accessibility. It also preserve and promote historical and cultural traditions of village.

EVG Community Library is the learning center of community, a place for people’s discovery, creativity enhancement, for knowledge broadening and soul nurture through the exposure to knowledge in various fields such as education, culture, economics and technology.

1. To provide knowledge in order to improve the ability of community in searching and utilizing information through the access to information technology and various sources of documents.
2. To be a link between community and domestic/foreign source of knowledge to enhance people’s intellectual standards in different fields.
3. To be a place for culture restoration, culture diffusion and culture exchange among communities through educating the role and responsibility of retaining and acquiring traditional values.
4. To find, mobilize and relate various resources for the efficient maintainance and development of community programs

The EVG Community Library is a progressive and innovative community library model with the mission to provide modern facilities, equipment, up-to-date materials and knowledge and universal values of humanity for rural Vietnam, to provide lifelong learning opportunities and access to comprehensive education, applied scientific and technical knowledge, to prepare competencies, thinking and foundations solid knowledge for students and people in this region to integrate and catch up with the development of Vietnam in particular and the world.
