Whakataukī: - ‘Eat heartily and hang some away in the storehouse’. In times of plenty people can eat their fill, but must give some thought to the future.

Connected | Rangitāmiro: 1. (verb) (-hia,-tia) to twist together, bind, splice.

This is a traditional kupu used for the binding together of muka or prepared flax fibre for rope, string etc. The better the bind, the stronger the rope will be. A taura or rope/string is used to connect and bring objects together, hence the use of rangitāmiro for connection in our context.

Ubiquitous | Rangiwhāwhā: 1. (verb) to be widespread, extensive.

2. (verb) to broaden, extend, expand.

As far as we are aware, at the time of this translation there wasn’t (and still isn’t) a Māori kupu for ubiquitous. The word rangiwhāwhā fits the context and our kaupapa well.

Visible | Ariari: 1. (verb) to be clear, apparent, obvious, evident, manifest.

Empowered | Rangitū: Rangitū is to stand confident and with prestige, so can be used in a similar context to the word mana. The English word empowered is to make (someone) stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life, so we are of the opinion that rangitū is the appropriate translation.
