What is Digital Citizenship?

A digital citizen is anyone who uses technology. It is your choice to be a good digital citizen by:

  • Protect Private Information
  • Respect Yourself and Others
  • Stay Safe Online
  • Balance Your Time
  • Stand up to Cyberbullying
  • RULE OF THUMB- IF YOU WOULDN'T DO IT IN PERSON, DON’T DO IT ONLINE!

Be careful about what you do online. At school, we are able to track everything that students do on their accounts.

Anything you do on school computers or your school google account is NOT private!

Google is NOT private!

Your email account and your google account are accessible by your teachers and the district’s IT department.

  • Do NOT do anything you wouldn’t want your teacher or parent to see.
    • That includes silly pictures.
    • That includes jokes or stories.
    • That includes bf/gf topics.

Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is when someone keeps using technology to be hurtful on purpose.

Examples of cyberbullying:

  • sending mean messages to or about someone
  • posting hurtful things about someone online
  • making fun of someone online
  • doing mean things to someone’s character on sites/Games like roblox or minecraft

How does it feel to be cyberbullied?

What should you do if

you are being cyberbullied?

  • Do not engage with the person.
  • Save proof of the bullying.
  • Stop using the technology.
  • Get an adult to help.

Step 3: REPORT

When should you report and to whom should you report?

When to try yourself:

  • If the problem is small, try to solve it yourself in at least 2 different ways.
  • If you witness a small problem happening to someone else, you can stand up for that person in a helpful way.

When to make a report:

  • When you don’t think kids can solve the problem

on their own.

  • If you think the actions can turn into bullying.
  • You are worried that someone will get hurt.

*Know report & block functions on video games & apps

When to tell an adult right away:

  • When someone is getting hurt or has been

threatened.

  • Anything that is digital and makes you feel

uncomfortable.

  • Don’t wait if someone is in danger!
