Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

Professionalism (25%)

Students show the ability to submit complete and timely homework/work that meets the expectations of academic and professional settings. You can expect homework out of our workbook 2-3 times a week, ranging from vocabulary, grammar and writing exercises.

Learning Mindset (30%):

Constitutes any activity that we do in class that comes out of the textbook, oral activities, a handout or an exercise that I post on Canvas. Classwork is not collected daily; it is your responsibility to keep all these activities organized under the corresponding unit.

Curricular Literacy (25%):

You can expect a grammar/vocab quiz every 2 weeks. Unit tests will be announced (dates are posted on the board and on Echo) in advanced and we will review for them as well.

Oral communication (20%):

We will have informal and/or formal oral presentations through out the units. Note, you will be graded not on completion of the activity but on how well you do on the oral exercise and weather you use the appropriate register.

Make-ups:

  • Assignments missed because of EXCUSED absences are to be made up with one week of the student’s return to class. It is up to the student to request any missed work; also, any test, assignment and more NOT made up on time will be recorded as a 40% grade. Finally, ZEROS may now be given on designated culminating assignments/tests that are not completed at all.
