Role of the ELAC

  • Advises and assists the school principal, staff and School Site Council (SSC) as follows:
    • The school’s program for English learners
    • The development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
    • The school’s needs assessment.
    • Efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance
    • Not a decision making body, but it is the voice of the English learner community

Composition of the ELAC

  • The ELAC membership must include parents of English learners (ELs)
  • It may also include other duly elected family & community members.
  • The percentage of parents of ELs who are elected must be at least equal to the percentage of English learners at the school site.

Back to School Night Highlights

  • ~80 families participated
  • 20 student leaders supported the event through tabling, distributing student schedules, helping families find classrooms, and providing translation support
  • 16 community partners tabled at the Resource Fair
  • 48 families turned in a Back to School Night Passport with 3 families per grade winning a prize
  • Yummy pizza party
  • 90 degree weather didn't stop us

  • THURSDAY OCTOBER 15TH CELEBRATION FROM 4:30-6PM
  • Each Student is given a flag of their country
  • Ofrienda (Room 103 or Office)
  • Azteca Dancers
  • Folklorico Dance
  • Bring Food from Different Countries
