How it works:

First, the students will receive one on instruction on the current lesson that they are on- you can go to my lesson plan to view an example of a lesson that will be be apart of my tool that I will be displaying.

After One-on-one lesson, students will log into Zern: zearn.org

Student will then be sent to the modification part of the lesson here the student will relearn the lesson, guided by a video and step by step notes.

Once the student is successful with the modified lesson notes, guided practice the student then moves on to redefinition: here is an example of the students notes which shows a teacher is able to get a hold of to move to the next step.

In redefinition: students will “create” a new task, in which at one point was inconceivable. To be in this stage the teacher must have access to students notes and student should be able to provide feedback via work.

For special education Zearn is a perfect fit, Student works can directly show teacher where they stand in the lesson and the task the student is doing. If the student fails ( shown below) the student is then placed back to review material s/he knows, therefore they are creating a new task for them and getting the modifications they need.

Here is the student not meeting the requirement they need to pass, student has now created a new task for himself. By going back the previous lesson to review.

Once successful he/she will return to material.

When the student complets the task, they Zearned it!

When the student Zearns the material, the student will then be given a new task to complete or be given extra practice.
