Over Summer, please complete the following tasks in order to prepare you for your first few weeks of Term 1.

What is a natural form?

  • Shells
  • Leaves
  • Plants
  • Flowers
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Stones
  • Fossils
  • Crystals
  • Pine cones
  • Bones
  • Insects

Natural forms have not been altered or manipulated but are in their original form found in nature.

Task 1

Find and photograph as many natural forms as you can.

You could look in your garden, a friend or family member’s garden, local parks, garden centres etc.

Task 2

Using your photographs, complete 1x A4 drawing.

Think about tone, highlights and shadows. You can complete these drawings using pencil, biro, charcoal or graphite.

Task 3 – Gallery visit

Find a gallery or museum that is interesting to you. Whilst you are there:

  • Take photos
  • Make notes
  • Talk to people who work there , ask questions
  • Complete mini sketches
  • Collect leaflets / pamphlets / guide books
  • Document anything that inspires you
