MAUL OF THE DEAD
The whole premise of the show is that the main characters are trapped in a mall during a zombie apocalypse
A big part of this production was getting the eery zombie noises produced to make it sound like the characters were truly surrounded
Other sounds have overlapping sounds to capture the chaos happening in the moment. I would pull sounds from youtube or websites for foley, or produce my own sound effects for the best result.
A few times there were gunshots, which I would make and work with the actors to make sure the sound and movement were synced up
WALK TWO MOONS
Walk Two Moons was a simpler show, but required very specific sound effects and cues to enhance the story.
I pulled different audios and plugged them into an editing software to edit them as need be for each scene to make sure they fit and brought the vision to life effectively.
I also listened to a lot of music to finally find a song perfect enough to move the audience in the end, which swelled into the bows and left many in the audience very emotional.
ORGANIZED GOOGLE DRIVE
PUFFS
Puffs was made in the same pattern in pulling and editing sound effects. A lot of this show was very specific in how the sound effects needed to be played and produced, so I took that into account while editing, but this was the most sound I’ve had to design for.
I uploaded everything to a google drive in alphabetical order in order to best organize everything and make it easier to cue during a show.
Some effects were pre-recorded voice overs, which I’d have the actors record before ai would put effects or filters over their voices to accurately portray where the voice over was coming from.
MY FAVORITE EFFECT, WHICH INVOLVED A LOT OF OVERLAPPING SOUNDS FOR A CHILLING SCENE
WHAT I DO
RECORD
VENUS
I’ll search youtube or foley websites for sound effects or music that will aid the production audibly and usually edit them or overlap or fade.
For some effects of the show, I’ll record myself making or producing sounds for foley that can be used in addition to already made sound effects or exist on their own.

HOW I DESIGN
READ SCRIPT
BROWSE
DIRECTORS INPUT
EDIT
Read the entire script and highlight the sound cues, pay attention to where it is and who is involved
I look on sites like youtube, free sound, and other foley sites, or I make my own to choose whatever is fit
Talk to the director to see if they have any distinct visions regarding the sound effects
I plug whatever selected sound(s) in to a software to edit volume, add or overlap things, or just add simple fades
