VIBRANTZ TECHNOLOGIES COLOR SOLUTIONS OVERVIEW

September 2025

We bring color, performance and vibrancy to life.

We benefit from three strong histories

1858

Prince legacy began when Prince Manufacturing Company was formed as a colorants and additives supplier to the North American brick industry.

Via organic growth and 20+ acquisitions, Prince grew to serve customers in a variety of advanced minerals and chemicals markets around the world.

1919

Ferro began as three founders set out to modernize porcelain enameling and incorporated Ferro Enameling Company.

Over 100+ years, Ferro grew though strategic product development, market expansion and unique expertise in color and glass science, particle engineering and surface application technology.

2012

Chromaflo Technologies was created from the merger of the Colortrend Group (with roots back to the early 1900s) and Plasticolors, Inc.

Over a 10-year period, Chromaflo made multiple strategic acquisitions to become a premier global provider of colorant and color systems to the coatings and thermoset plastics markets.

Vibrantz companies have over 300 years of combined expertise in advanced materials, color solutions and performance coatings.

Complex inorganic-colored pigments (CICPs)

Compounds consisting of two or more metal oxides calcined at temperatures above 1000° C to create a new crystal structure imparting outstanding outdoor durability, chemical resistance and infrared reflective capability.

Paints, coatings, building materials, plastics, ceramics

Ultramarine blue (UMB)

Mixture of soft clay, sodium sulfate, sodium carbonate and sulfur heated to ~750°C in closed furnace. Part of the sulfur burns and the remaining is transformed to a chromophore creating a fine blue pigment. End-product is heat and alkali resistant, has excellent light fastness and is approved worldwide for use in food-contact plastics and toys.

Paints, coatings, inks, plastics, roofing granules, cosmetics

Organic pigments (AZOs)

Organic compounds based on carbon chemistry. Pigments are obtained by electrophilic aromatic substitution of a diazonium compound with an aromatic compound. Compared to a dye, the organics pigments have a controlled crystal structure in additional to their chemical composition which provides their physico-chemical properties.

Paints, coatings, inks, plastics

Bismuth vanadate (BiVa)

Insoluble salt obtained by a precipitation of two soluble salts of Bismuth and Vanadium with a low temperature treatment and in some cases an additional stabilization step to improve properties such as light and temperature fastness. End products are bright colors.

Paints, coatings, plastics

Iron oxides

Iron from scrap metal is acid dissolved followed by consecutive steps of precipitation and oxidation providing black, red and yellow pigments. Shade and color are controlled by process parameters and crystal growth yielding highly stable earth tone colors.

Paints, coatings, plastics, construction

Anticorrosives

Pigments obtained by precipitation to form very low soluble salts. Their low soluble ions block the corrosion inhibiting species generated in the anode and cathode in a corrosion process. Additionally, the shape of the particle can act as a physical barrier.

Paints, coatings, construction

Lead chromates and molybdates

Insoluble salt obtained by precipitation of two soluble salts of lead and chromium in different conditions, results in different structures and colors. Different encapsulation processes are applied to increase light and heat stability. Environmentally out of favor.

Paints, coatings, plastics

Liquid colorants

Specialized colorant and chemical additive dispersions for architectural, industrial and thermoset applications. Our colorants have superior color and brightness, impart enhanced durability and come in varieties for molding, viscosity and UV stability.

Polyester, Plasticolors IN

  • SMC / BMC / TMC
  • Pultrusão
  • Produção de resina de poliéster
