Difference in Level of Rigor
ADVANCED
not weighted
These courses cover the same curriculum, but provide additional rigor, increased pace, and high expectations for all students. However, these courses are not weighted through GPA. Students are encouraged to enroll in these courses, provided strength and interest in the subject area.
HONORS
weighted +1.0 for A,B, or C*
These courses have added demands of high expectations and accelerated coursework. These courses are weighted.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT
weighted +1.0 for A,B, or C*
These courses are taught by CHHS High teachers and are certified by the College Board, and have weighted grades. Students who score a 4 or 5 on the AP Exam may qualify for college credit through their college or university.
MIRAMAR COLLEGE COURSES
weighted +1.0 and receive 2 credits
These courses are on CHHS campus and instructed by Miramar College professors. Students receive 2 credits per course, and grades are weighted.
Per District policy, courses taken during the 9th grade year are not weighted, regardless of AP or Honors designations.
