What are video assignments?
What is a Video Assignment?
Video Assignments is a video-based training and assessment platform built by Bongo and embedded into Brightspace that allows students to complete a video exercise. Some assignment types are formative assessments while some types are summative. A great advantage of all types is that they come with an option for AI generated grades and feedback and/or peer feedback.
Note: Embedded video use bandwidth. Videos need to be short. Longer videos should be on Youtube to enhance access.

4 Types of Video Assignment
Assignment type Primary use
Peer review is available for all types.
Learners record or upload a video of themselves presenting on a topic or demonstrating a specific skill. This can be coupled with self-assessment or peer review. You can add key terms that must be included and Reflection Questions. Students can add files and links.

2. Group Project
Learners work in groups (you can set them up or they can) toward a deliverable. Individuals have the ability to create milestones, evaluate their peers, meet virtually, and compile all of their submissions within the project dashboard.

3. Q&A
Learners are presented with prompts (<20) and given a set amount of time to respond. The learner only has one opportunity to answer each prompt, replicating the high-stakes environment of being asked questions in a face-to-face setting. A practice option is available.

4. Interactive Video
Learners watch an instructor-provided video and respond to related prompts at different points throughout the video. You can choose a response type. Students can discard a video response and try again before submitting.

1. Go to Existing Activities > Video Assignment
2. Click the desired option. →
3. You must add a few items in the pop up to Save the assignment. See the !
4. To quickly create, add the correct title, but write “instructions” under Instructions and choose Percentage as the initial Evaluation Method.

Group Assignment
Same setup as the Individual assignment, but you have group options (faculty managed, student managed, system assigned) and a team assessment option.
The Team assessment option means learners score their group members using a five star rating or a rubric.

Q&A (Oral Quiz)
Your questions can be video and/or written. You MUST add 1 question before you can save it initially.
You can add up to 20 questions.
When you use Random Question Mode, learners will see questions that their peers may not (e.g., I wrote 20 questions, but they get 4).
Responses must be oral. Camera and/or screenshare are permitted.
You can delay the response to give students an opportunity to read/think.
Set the min and max time limits.
Students MUST go through the questions in the order presented.

You must record or upload a video for students to watch--no links allowed.
You MUST add at least one question before you can save it. Max of 20.
Then you can write prompts for students to answer via video or M/C.
You set the time stamp for the question.
Students can discard a video response and try again before submitting.

This is what students see. As such, the video must be easy to understand on a small screen. They can use the expand icon (top right) to open it in a bigger window, but they would still need to use ctrl + several times to make a spreadsheet like this readable.
Evaluate, Score & Provide Feedback
Add video assignment to Grades
Open the assignment from the content area.
On the bottom right, click Add a grade item.
Click the + sign to add a New grade item.
Click Create > Save to close
