My Framework
�I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all model, but most of my coaching partnerships looks like:
1. Clarify what matters most to you now.
2. Clarify what matters to you for the future.
3. Focus on the top goals to tackle.
4. Decide on actions.
5. Reflect on what’s working and what’s getting in the way. Adjust if needed.
My goal is to coach you toward independence, not dependency.
That takes time. Most meaningful shifts happen over a few months, but I also offer coaching for focused, short-term goals.
My Approach
Understanding the problem/goal: I strongly believe in understanding the specific issue(s), problems or goals that brought you here. That way, any solutions will be specifically tailored to helping to solve your issue or problem, and help better position you to reach your goal. I will ask you a lot of questions, so be as detailed as you need to be so that I have a good understanding of what you need. I will always check with you to make sure my understanding is correct, and that we are moving in the right direction.
�Conversations: Everything is a conversation, including suggestions I might have. You are free to take or leave any suggestions. In the end, I am here to support what you decide to do, and in each case, we’ll discuss how everything went.
�Empathetic yet forward-looking: I am an empathetic person. I will listen to your vents and seek to understand how they make you feel. However, to provide the most value to you, we will also balance this with what you want your future successes to look like, since that’s why you’re paying.��Honesty / Candor: I will be honest with you when I don’t know something. I will also be honest yet kind with you about any constructive input I might have.
�Organized Process: I am an organized person by default. But I don’t ask that of all others. I will seek to have enough organization so that we are tracking properly to goals and don’t miss things, and we will decide on a process that works for both of us.

Packages & Costs
Core Career Coaching - $2000 / month
One month minimum because this is a journey and not a light-switch.�More support can be requested at a premium (e.g. meeting more often).
Payments: Payment due at the beginning of each coaching month. �(Installments considered if needed.)
Cancellations: After first month, coaching may be canceled at any time. Fees already paid cover the full monthly coaching engagement and are not tied to specific sessions. Any remaining support can be used within the original term.
This is a collaborative journey. Coaching includes not just our sessions, but also preparation, support, follow-up, and evolution over time.
Specific Short-Term Goal - $600 / week
For addressing one focused, time-based goal, something that can be meaningfully tackled in weeks rather than months.
One week minimum. Weeks do not have to be consecutive.
Payments: Payment due at the beginning of each coaching week.
Cancellations: Cancel any time. Since weeks may not be consecutive, please let me know when you consider the engagement complete.

More About Boomie
I’m a senior software engineering leader with 20+ years of experience spanning startups, enterprise, and government work. I’ve held leadership roles at multiple companies including Accenture, NPR, Capital One, and most recently built and led the engineering org at a growing tech company as Senior Director (with VP-level scope).
Alongside leading teams, I coach engineers and engineering leaders on goals or challenges, including growing in existing or desired roles, navigating job changes, and more. I’m especially passionate about helping people grow, whether that’s through inclusive team building, mentoring, or individual coaching. I bring the experiences of my past successes and failures, and learnings from the multiple professional networks I’m active in.
I serve on the boards of two nonprofits: one focused on advancing girls and women in STEM, and the other supporting executive-level tech leadership and community.
I’m an adjunct faculty who has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses.
I co-founded a fitness app startup, won a pitch competition at the Essence Festival in 2014 (photo shown).

I requested coaching from Boomie when I was a mid-level engineer. I wanted to �create a clear, actionable framework for my growth as a developer to help me �build technical depth, strengthen communication and leadership skills, and really �better understand what it truly means to be a senior developer.
The sessions I had with Boomie were impactful because we were able to lay out the facts of my thinking and come up with a framework that tackles my immediate needs. Partway through the sessions, I was offered a senior level role, and we were able to shift towards both devising a plan and refining my framework to focus on tackling the new work environment while ramping up on applicable tech in a prioritized order. This was part of the most beneficial aspects of our sessions, along with the consistent transparency from our shared experiences.
The main shift in my thinking occurred after marinating in the question of what it truly means to be a senior developer. The question had been answered many different ways by many different people, but it finally sank in and really helped me reframe my mind and expectations of myself.

8 years ago I was at a crossroad in terms of which technical path to take in my software engineering career. Boomie was my manager and mentor from the time I was a junior software engineer until right before I was promoted �to senior software engineer. There are many things that set Boomie apart, but in my case, it was particularly helpful �to have her combination of technical knowledge, hands-on experience from her own career, and empathy. That last �one might feel out of place - but I think it’s the key that sets Boomie apart.
I can’t recall a meeting with Boomie that didn’t begin with a genuine discussion of my personal well-being. In my opinion, putting this sort of personal discussion first both in the meeting agenda and in priority meant that everything that followed carried a connection to my humanity. Boomie and I could discuss career struggles, goal-setting, and managing social situations at work in a holistic way since they were all seen in light of my entire life, and not just what was happening between 9 and 5.

Boomie provided a safe environment for me to talk about technical ideas and get the feedback of a proficient engineer. However, with Boomie’s guidance and recommendations, I took the time to do an AWS certification course, and it’s proven to be fundamental to my growth as a software engineer. Boomie had both the emotional IQ and the technical vocabulary to direct me in a direction that was right for me. I felt heard and empowered in a safe space under her mentorship. I credit her with helping me replace my workplace anxiety with a relatively confident voice balanced by a healthy dose of humility.
Though Boomie has not been my manager for a few years now and I do have a good relationship with my new manager (also an ex-direct of Boomie), I occasionally reach out to her for advice, and am happy to hear that she is providing coaching services.
