SLIDESMANIA.COM

SECTION 12

SECTION 13

7 of 29

Materials Needed:

  • Aerial photo of the school

AES BES CES CPS EMES FBES GLES HAES KES MBES PFES

Preparation: Copy and print the aerial photo for your school for each student if desired

Mastery Objective: The student will identify an aerial photograph as a photo taken from above and that it shows items in a smaller size and in their correct locations.

Criteria for success: Students will listen and participate in a discussion about the aerial photograph of their school property.

Procedure: Project the aerial photo of your school on the SMART board (see links above)

Lead a discussion of the aerial photo using questions such as:

  • What do you think this is a picture of?
  • What do you notice about this picture?
  • What are some items that you see in the picture?
  • Where is the front door of the school?
  • Where is the playground?
  • What parts of the photograph show land?
  • Is there any water shown on the map?

Ask students to describe the relative location of items on the map by using positional words. For example: The hardtop is to the right of the school on the map

Have students complete the coloring activity using the aerial photo for your school. (links at the top of the page) This could also be done whole class using the SMART board. Directions for the coloring activity are on the next page.
