The project aims to:

1. Generate and disseminate information about seeds as biological and cultural heritage and facilitate seed-saving among Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, and Danish adult organic farmers and gardeners;

2. Raise awareness about relationships between seed legislation and climate change, food security, and food sovereignty as part of democratic participatory citizenship, and explain variations in seed legislation all four countries;

3. Share knowledge among organizations from Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia in order to

  1. develop training methods for formal, informal, and nonformal learning about seed-saving, collection, management, and use in local seed networks.

  1. The activities for creating the platform for collaboration will be coordinated by Latvian permaculture Scociety

Activities

  • Sept-Oct 2018: Developing web-page and forum for online communication (Latvia)�
  • Oct 2018: Preparing and organizing the first planning meeting. Meeting will take place in Lithuania and at least 2 persons from each country participate.

Results:

  • Technical platform for communication established;
  • duties and responsibilities among partners are distributed
  • time-frame for the project is set up

II. Activities to share knowledge in order to develop training methods and materials coordinated by Danish Seed Savers

Activities

  • Oct 2018-June 2019: Developing materials for Curriculum in English
  • Feb-Mar 2019: Seed-saving and training of trainers course in Denmark (5 persons from each country)
  • June-Oct 2019: Translation of developed materials
  • Oct 2019-Jan 2020: Evaluation and adaption of developed materials and methodology by arranging a pilot course

Results:

  • Developed, translated, adapted and evaluated materials for the curriculum about seed-saving, collection and management.

III. Activities to raisw awarness about seed legislation coordinated by Lithuania.

Activities

  • Nov 2018-Jan 2019: Comparing legislation, creating legislative fact sheets and brochures
  • Apr-June 2019: Organizing workshop in each Baltic country for NGOs, researchers, policy-makers, consumers, chefs, teachers, folk culture enthusiasts to raise awareness about seed legislation and related questions

Results:

  • Summarized and published information about seed legislation, raised awarenss about seed legislation in general public and in the circle of decision-makers.

IV. Activities to disseminate information about seeds and facilitate seed-saving, collection, management & use coordinated by Estonia

Activities

  • Sept-Nov 2019: Creating a website and forum for communication & public access point to the seed database that will be developed during the project
  • Dec 2018- Jan 2019: Preparing and organizing a project meeting on database development. Meeting in Estonia. 2 persons from each partner participate. Technical issues and structure of the database will be discussed
  • Jan-Oct 2019: Developing a database
  • Jan-June 2019: Developing methodology for collecting, storing and sharing seed genetic resources and related memories and oral histories
  • July-Oct 2019: Evaluation of the developed methodology
  • Nov 2019-Mar 2020: Translation of materials of the developed methodology

V. Activities to evaluate and disseminate the project results coordinated by Latvian Permaculture Society

Activities

  • Jan-Mar 2020: Publishing all of the developed materials in the web-page, disseminating information about project products.�
  • Mar-Apr 2020: Preparing and organizing last project meeting-conference about project results in Latvia. 3 persons from each partner organisation will participate. The conference will be live-streamed and saved as video archives in internet.
