Disclosing

Submit your ballot*, then please disclose/give win/lose results IN ROUND!!

  • Feel free to give a run down on your decision after disclosing only if time allows
    • DO NOT go over the round time giving feedback
    • keep oral feedback within 5 minutes

Oral Feedback:

  • Final voters/contentions of the round
    • what did you weigh your decision on?
  • Main focus of the round
    • were there points left unaddressed?
  • Specific debater feedback
    • areas of improvement? strengths?

keep in mind, there is another opportunity to give more feedback in the ballots!

*Don’t worry - after submitting your ballot, you can still add/edit feedback to the debaters. The tournament just needs decision info ASAP to keep us moving on-schedule.

Paradigms/

Preferences

  • It is highly recommended that judges fill out their paradigms!
    • Available via Tabroom
  • General Structure:
    • Experience with debating/judging
    • rounds preferences (eg. speed, weighing, dropping arguments, etc.)
  • Feel free to include humorous ways to achieve full speaker points, but make sure they are appropriate.
    • eg. Incorporate a reference to Whiplash in the constructive.

Cultural Competence

  • It is important to remember that the feedback provided to students will be utilized as a tool to further their development, and as such should stand as productive and educational in its content
  • Please remember that although some comments may seem well-intentioned, they may only serve to reinforce the status quo of societal norms, potentially creating a non-inclusive space for students.
