Styles: occasional help and routine

Explanation

Where to go

-You’ll usually have to sign up for 1-5 hour shift

-This is what most people think of as “volunteering”

-These can be a great opportunity to hang out with friends

-I’ve compiled a spreadsheet here of places I’ve found

-Please add any that you have found!

Note: Hours in routine style volunteering are sometimes more flexible so arriving late or early may not be as big of a deal

How can I be a good volunteer?

    • Be 5-10 minutes early
    • Wear appropriate clothing (weather, dress codes)
    • Log your hours- you can use this sheet
    • Go with 1-3 friends!
    • Emailing is not scary-don’t let it stop you from getting an opportunity!
    • Have fun! Helping the community and making an impact is fun!

When should I start volunteering?

The earlier the better!

Note: most opportunities will be age locked though (Southlake city generally requires 12 years or older)

Times not to volunteer

Don’t prioritize volunteering over much!

-When you have to study or do homework

-When you don’t feel like it/want to

-When you’re friends aren’t available

-When you’re tired

It’s ok to cancel shifts (48 hours in advance though)
