Vehicle Commander Standing Order
The roles and responsibilities of the VC are as follows:
Vehicle Commander Standing Order
Vehicle Commander Standing Order
SAF drivers must conduct a risk assessment using the MT-RAC3 before the start of a transport detail.
1. The form will be endorsed by the Countersigning Officer (Conducting Officer/ Vehicle OIC).
2. If the risk factors change 4 during the detail, the driver must reassess the risks and seek endorsement.
3. The Driver and the VC/ FP must go through the checklist and tick the relevant areas to acknowledge the risk factors, and to also indicate the need for re-assessment. After the re-assessment, if the risk is moderate - high, the VC should decide whether to proceed with the detail. If the decision is to proceed, additional briefs or changes to the detail should be made to mitigate the risk factors.
Risk Assessment
Vehicle Commander Standing Order
Driver fatigue affects concentration and judgement. Sufficient rest must be provided before and during driving details.
1. Before Detail. SAF drivers must have 7 hours of uninterrupted rest (from lights off to reveille) the day before the transport driving task. During training, if the exercise duration exceeds 24-hours, the driver must have a minimum of 4 hours of uninterrupted rest within the subsequent 24-hour cycle.
2. During Detail. SAF drivers must take 10 minutes of rest for every 60 minutes of driving. If there is no practical rest stop along the driving route, the Unit Commander may delay the rest to the next available rest
stop, as soon as practicable, allowing driving to exceed beyond the 60 minutes. For driving beyond 60 minutes, the driver must be given at least 15 minutes rest.
Driver Rest Norms.
