Before Ops Parade

  1. Soldiers to draw weapon, magazine(s), blank attachment, rifle sling & Rifle Cleaning Kit (RCK) at their assigned armskote.

  • Commanders to supervise change of muzzle with the blank attachment.

  • DO NOT FIX the cartridge pouch onto the weapon.

  • WCF TO BE REMAINED inside the chamber.

  • Soldiers to draw ammo from their Ammo IC and load the ammo into their magazine in camp.

  • All magazine(s) loaded will be placed in the magazine pouch with the magazine opening facing downward.

Before Ops Parade

  1. Commanders to check their soldiers to ensure weapons and ammo issued to them are accounted for.

  • Commanders to conduct final check for every soldier and equipment.

  • Commanders to ensure every soldier is in proper attire and no inner wear (green vest or running tee) to be worn.

  • Commanders to conduct a final check to ensure soldiers with iLBV have remove the “Kangaroo” pouch.

  • Commanders to do e-RAC at section/ entity level.

  • Unit to form up in Parade Square in accordance to Unit’s RSM instructions.

After Ops Parade

  1. After parade, unit RSM and CSM will issue command for soldiers to load weapon.

  • Soldier will load one loaded magazine into weapon.

  • DO NOT READY the weapon, WCF continue to be inside the chamber.

  • Weapon is at “safe” mode position.

  • Commanders to conduct a final count for all soldiers and equipment.

  • Wait for instruction to board their respective vehicle.

From KC3 to TA (Advance Party)

  1. For the Advance Party - Upon arrive at the link up point of the deployment ground, unit’s commanders and trainers will supervise the soldiers for the Weapon Ready Drill.

  • The point security force for the security screening to be prioritised for the weapon ready drill. The rest of the AP force can do the weapon ready drill during the screening ops.

  • Soldiers will cock their weapon and put the WCF into the WCF pouch the fix the cartridge pouch onto their weapon.

  • Advance Party will continue their deployment drill activities.

From KC3 to TA (Main Body)

  1. For the Main Body - Upon arriving at the link up point, soldiers will conduct all round defence drill while the March Unit IC will link up with the Unit B2. There is NO NEED TO READY WEAPON.

  • Upon link up established, the March Unit will be led to their respective deployment sector. Unit’s commanders and trainers will supervise the soldiers for the Weapon Ready Drill after they reach their deployment sector.

  • Soldiers will cock their weapon and put the WCF into the WCF pouch and fix the cartridge pouch onto their weapon. They continue as deployment drill activities.

From TA to KC3 (Completion of Training)

  1. Unit’s commanders and trainers will execute the check clear weapon drill to make safe the weapon.

  • Soldiers are to ensure the weapon is in “safe” mode.

  • Soldiers are to first unload the magazine follow by removing the cartridge pouch.

  • Soldiers are to cock their weapon, engage the last round catch, check clear, insert the WCF into chamber and release charging handle forward.

  • Any unexpended rounds will be loaded back into magazine and placed inside the magazine pouch with the magazine opening facing downward.

  • Empty Magazines will face upwards in magazine pouch.

7. Cartirdge pouch is not to be fixed onto weapon again but placed in fieldpack.

Return at Training Area

  1. Soldiers to return unexpended ammo and expended cartridges or RAIs to Unit’s commanders/ Ammo IC (unit’s SOP) at their respective sectors. Respective coy ammo IC must account for unexpended ammo and RAIs.

  • Unit Ammo IC will consolidate and account for all unexpended ammo and weigh the expended cartridges and count other form of RAIs (i.e. thunderflash cap).

  • Unit Ammo Party will travel from Training Area to PLAD to return ammo and RAI directly.

Return at KC3

  1. Soldiers will continue to hold onto their ammo until they reach KC3 parade square and return unexpended ammo and expended cartridges/ RAIs to Unit’s commanders/ Ammo IC (unit’s SOP) at their respective coy ammo returning point.

  • Unit Ammo IC will account for all unexpended ammo and weigh the expended cartridges and count other form of RAIs (i.e. thunderflash cap).

  • Unit Ammo Party will travel from KC3 Area to PLAD to return ammo and RAIs.

  1. Once all ammunition has been handed over, soldiers are to prepare for FFE declaration.

  • For declaration in TA or KC3, a 100% check will be done, including removal of boots.

  • At all times, declaration must be done in parade form. Metal detectors will be used to check the soldiers.

  • Commanders are to ensure servicemen are clear of ammunition and any other form of pyrotechnics.

Vehicle Commander Standing Order

  1. To be responsible for the discipline and safety of all passengers in the assigned transport detail.

  • To assist the driver to look out for obstruction, hazard or danger.

  • Go through intended route with the driver.

  • If unsure of the route or lost, to instruct the driver to stop the vehicle at a safe place to re-orientate their direction or seek further instructions.

  • If involved in an accident, to inform unit about the accident and

  • assist the driver to manage the accident.

The roles and responsibilities of the VC are as follows:

  1. To check and endorse the MT- Risk Assessment Checklist (RAC).

  • Reminding driver and other passengers to stay awake.

  • Looking out for signs of fatigue in the driver.

  • Reminding the driver not to speed or drive recklessly.

  • Reminding the driver not to use his/ her mobile devices while the vehicle is in motion.

Vehicle Commander Standing Order

SAF drivers must conduct a risk assessment using the MT-RAC3 before the start of a transport detail.

1. The form will be endorsed by the Countersigning Officer (Conducting Officer/ Vehicle OIC).

2. If the risk factors change 4 during the detail, the driver must reassess the risks and seek endorsement.

3. The Driver and the VC/ FP must go through the checklist and tick the relevant areas to acknowledge the risk factors, and to also indicate the need for re-assessment. After the re-assessment, if the risk is moderate - high, the VC should decide whether to proceed with the detail. If the decision is to proceed, additional briefs or changes to the detail should be made to mitigate the risk factors.

Vehicle Commander Standing Order

Driver fatigue affects concentration and judgement. Sufficient rest must be provided before and during driving details.

1. Before Detail. SAF drivers must have 7 hours of uninterrupted rest (from lights off to reveille) the day before the transport driving task. During training, if the exercise duration exceeds 24-hours, the driver must have a minimum of 4 hours of uninterrupted rest within the subsequent 24-hour cycle.

2. During Detail. SAF drivers must take 10 minutes of rest for every 60 minutes of driving. If there is no practical rest stop along the driving route, the Unit Commander may delay the rest to the next available rest

stop, as soon as practicable, allowing driving to exceed beyond the 60 minutes. For driving beyond 60 minutes, the driver must be given at least 15 minutes rest.
