Discussion - Planning Efforts

11

7. Strategies for aligning with State strategies:

An assessment of how regional economic development strategies (i.e., planning priorities, grant programs, and regulations) can align with, support, and be supported by existing state strategies in areas like clean energy, air pollution reduction, transportation decarbonization, climate adaptation, sustainable water management, and natural and working lands.

E.G. - Adopting Recreation & Resiliency Master Plans. Mariposa has one, Tuolumne wants one (?). Are there other examples of planning initiatives that have attracted State interest?

Discussion - Investment & Funding Mechanisms

2. Strategies for the growth of targeted industries: “… Identify the specific infrastructure required to grow the industry.”

3. Strategies for increasing economic diversification: “Strategies must focus on economic diversification in at-risk locations…must address barriers to the attraction and retention of businesses, as well as barriers to quality job access for disinvested communities.”

What strategies should CJF and/or local governments adopt around investments and resources to help ensure that this regional strategy and projects can move forward both in your region and throughout the Eastern Sierra region?

E.g. - RLFs (proposed previously, to mixed reception,) Public Banks (E.g. Bank of North Dakota,) Community Development Corps.
