  • Discussion and decisions will be limited to topics that are within the scope of the SAC responsibilities and on the agenda
  • Each committee member will have an equal voice.

DAC Update

  • Wrapping up year-end.
  • Presented to the BOE on the Budget a month ago
  • Seeking community member(s) and Latino representation
  • Math curriculum: first year the entire school district is on the same math curriculum
    • Looking at how that has most likely affected teacher retention, and most importantly, student performance.

Update from SLC

  • RFOV: “Spruce Up Your School”
    • Friday 4/26 during school, involve kinder and 4th grade (tentative)
  • Wish for Wheels- Friday 4/26, 2nd Grade
  • Movie Night Finalized!
  • Parent Book Club- moved to August
  • Teacher Appreciation Week- May 6-10

DLENM recommendations:

  • More oracy practice across the board, but specifically for our L1 English students learning Spanish - BES has focused our PD this year on oracy practices specifically during our ERW time. Teacher observations & coaching is followed up to ensure these practices are implemented.
  • Increased Rigor in classrooms. - Currently looking at the structure of LB and how to ensure all students are getting what they need. Continuing to work on Learning & Language objectives in all classrooms.
  • Better curricular Materials (especially in Spanish) - Upcoming Estrellita support for the 24-25 school year for Spanish phonics program, including teacher training & coaching.
  • More Family Engagement & Communication on DL program
    • SEAL PD on family engagement - bringing practices to the 24-25 school year such as DL family nights in the fall with cultural activities to share together as a community.
    • BMS DL plan for 24-25 - BMS sending out a communication this week. Will make sure BES families also get this comm
    • Update BES website on DL program, add more resources for families.
