4 YEAR COLLEGES LIKE TO SEE AND MAY REQUIRE…

4 years of Science

4 years of Math (U of MN has 4 year math requirement)

2 years (or more) of a single World Language

*Some colleges will consider a student for admission if one of these requirements is missing (a deficiency) but all other criteria are met. It is important to note there are variations in college admissions requirements and you should check with each college for specifics!

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING CLASSES

  • Help student develop a plan for grades 10, 11 & 12
  • Balance rigor with other life obligations!
  • Keep extra college requirements in mind
  • Encourage your students to try out electives
  • Most importantly:

Talk to teachers (parent/teacher conferences Thursday, January 22 and Friday, January 23) and counselors about different options & appropriateness of certain classes.

  • Social Studies - US History or AP US History
  • Math- Geometry Concepts, Geometry or Honors Algebra II
  • Science- Biology Concepts, Biology, Honors Biology, or AP Biology
  • Personal Finance
  • Wellness & PE
  • Electives (wide variety of options for these slots)

*Students who register for less than 21 credits will automatically have

1, 2 or 3 study halls
