Heat transfer is a form of energy transfer and can occur by conduction, convection, and/or radiation. Heat transfer occurs any time there is a temperature difference between two objects and occurs in the direction of decreasing temperature, meaning from a hot object to a cold object.

Conduction is the process by which heat energy is transmitted through collisions between neighboring atoms or molecules. Conduction occurs more readily in solids and liquids, where the particles are closer together than in gases, where particles are further apart.

RADIATION
Radiation heat transfer is a process where heat waves are emitted that may be absorbed, reflected, or transmitted through a colder body. Sun heats the earth by electromagnetic waves. Hot bodies emit heat waves.
