Four Focused Steps

So, we've identified four focused steps so that you're prepared to use the PVAAS data (as a district or school leader) when it's released. You can see they are similar depending on your role as a leader.

Step 1 is the same – it’s all about preparing for that release of data.

Steps 2 and 3 are all about setting those expectations for data use – for district leaders, those steps focus on using it district- and school-wide. For school leaders, those steps focus on using it school-wide and then for teacher-specific purposes.

Finally, step 4 differs a bit for these roles. For District Leaders, this final step is about developing and supporting school leaders in conferencing with teachers. For School Leaders, this final step is about supporting their school-based staff in using the data throughout the year, including providing and supporting professional learning opportunities.

Throughout the rest of the session, you will notice our reference to the step which is color-coded on each slide. Red will indicate it is a step for LEA/District Leaders and green will indicate it is a step for School Leaders.

self-reflection!

ALL teachers have available data to help them self-reflect and set goals. The Teacher Self-Reflection guides support the process of gathering student data to help inform reflection.
In the context of Act 13, we use the term “data available” to mean those teachers who receive PVAAS reporting for growth or achievement and those who have data to report on IEP goals progress. These are your teachers of Keystone and PSSA-tested grades and subjects. Also, any teacher who meets the LEA-set n-count for IEP goals progress.

Alternatively, in the context of Act 13, non-data available teachers are those who do not receive PVAAS teacher-specific reporting and do not meet the LEA-set n-count for IEP goals progress. Think the Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher or K-2 classroom teachers, or the Calculus teacher at the HS.
