Purpose

Student access to technology resources is an essential component in the SDPC. Use of the district-issued device is a privilege. Students using a mobile learning device at school and at home are expected to follow the SDPC Tech It Home Mobile Learning Device Guidelines and all SDPC Technology Acceptable Use Policies.

Cost

$25 nonrefundable user fee for the use of the device

Loss is not covered. Theft is covered only with a filed police report.

�User agreement fee provides coverage from August 2022- June 2023

Summary of Accidental/Damage Agreement

  • Negligent = Replacement Cost & Loss of Device
  • Intentional = Full Replacement or Repair & Possible Discipline
  • Loss/Theft = Full Replacement Cost (Theft covered with filed police report.)

General Guidelines

  • Use chromebook for learning
  • Follow local, state, and federal laws
  • Be school appropriate

Responsible Use

  • Do not share logins or passwords
  • Do not develop programs to harass others, hack, bring in viruses, or change others’ files
  • Follow Internet safety guidelines

Inappropriate Content

Inappropriate materials include explicit or implicit references to:

  • Alcohol, tobacco or drugs
  • Gangs
  • Obscene language or nudity
  • Bullying or harassment
  • Discriminatory or prejudicial behavior
  • All of the above is tracked on the student Chromebooks! DO NOT ABUSE or you WILL get found out.

Chromebook Care

  • Keep CB in the SDPC approved carrying case at all times when not in use.
  • Keep CB charged and leave power cord/charger at home.
  • Chromebook should never be open when consuming food or drink.
  • Open the CB from the center of the CB, not from the sides.

Prohibited Actions

  • Students are prohibited from:
    • Marking on the carrying case in any way.
  • Students may…
    • Create a personalized card for the�case’s pocket
    • Use a personalized luggage tag

Chromebook Care: In transit or home

  • Completely shut down before traveling.
  • Store in the SDPC approved carrying case when not in use!
  • Charge fully each night. Leave the powerbrick at home.
  • Do not put CB in bookbags without the SDPC approved carrying case as textbooks can cause the screen to crack.
  • SDPC will work in cooperation with the local police department if a device is reported stolen.

Chromebook Care: Protect from...

  • Extreme heat or cold.
  • Food and drinks.
  • Small children
  • Pets
  • Earbuds - Earbuds left in the CB will crack the screen once the CB shuts

Classroom Procedures

  • Device is resting on the desktop.
  • Never place your device on the floor.
  • Close lid, place in SDPC approved carrying case, and close case before standing up.
  • Do not leave unattended.
  • Follow teacher directions. Failure to follow district policies and teacher instructions could result in disciplinary action.
