What do

you use

maps for?

Ask the audience for a couple of examples of how they use maps, then go through sample maps.

Google maps – finding places, getting directions, wayfinding

Hydrology map – how many rivers connect to the Mississippi, use of fertilizer/pollutants upstream impacts downstream, how maps like this can help people understand they’re connected by water/actions

Weather map – we don’t use as much to get stuff like temperature, but still important for thunder and snowstorms

Population map – help people understand what the world is really like and the impacts that has on things like economics, trade, resources, climate, culture, urbanization, etc.
