A Supply Chain Unit is an organizational unit (physical location) such as Shipping Points or Warehouse. Supply chain unit (SCU) in Embedded EWM contains geographical data, address data, time zone, etc.

When a location is created in SAP SCM either manually or by transfer via the core interface (CIF), the system automatically creates an SCU with identical general and address data and the business character planning location.

Conversely, if you create an SCU with the business character planning location, the system automatically creates a location with identical general and address data.

An S/4 Embedded EWM Warehouse in S/4 is created as a Supply Chain Unit with Location Type 1008

The SCU E111 Type 1008 (Warehouse) is assigned with a Longitude and Latitude (Geographical data) for Supply Chain Planning and Modelling

The SCU E111 Type 1008 (Warehouse) also contains an Address

Supply Chain Unit Type 1008 contains the above Business Attributes as:

  • Warehouse - Storage
  • Goods Receipt Office - Inbound receiving processing
  • Shipping Office - Outbound Delivery processing
