Standardized Testing

    • Test scores are used to identify student progress, see how students are performing in different schools, and see how different groups of students perform relative to others.
    • Scores are used for Academic Placement into Honors, Accelerated, & Intervention Classes.
    • HCS uses iReady & SC READY for standardized testing.

    • Taken 3x per year (Fall, Winter & Spring)
    • Used to measure student progress and growth in Reading & Math
    • The difficulty of each question is based on how well a student answers the previous questions
    • The score is unrelated to the age or grade of the student, but reflects the level at which the student is currently performing.
    • The percentile (%) given by the iReady report shows how a student’s score compares to other students who completed the iReady at that grade level
    • Personalized Instruction--Once students complete the Diagnostic portion, they are put on an i-Ready Personalized Pathway. Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your student can learn at a pace that is just right for them.
