• The blood circulatory system is a system of organs that includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood which is circulated throughout the entire body of a human or other vertebrate.

Blood vessels

• Blood vessels circulate blood throughout your body.
• There are 3 types.

Arteries

• Arteries carry blood away from your heart.
• These strong, muscular blood vessels carry oxygen-rich blood from your heart to your body.

Veins

• Veins carry blood back toward your heart.
• They have thin, less elastic walls and carry large volumes of deoxygenated blood back to your heart.

Capillaries

• Capillaries, the smallest blood vessels, connect arteries and veins.

Heart

• Heart is the centre of the blood circulatory system.
• The heart pumps blood to all parts of the body.
