  • 3.0 GPA
  • Score a 19 in English and Reading on the ACT to enroll in Composition I
  • Score a 19 in Reading and a 21 in Math on the ACT to enroll in College Algebra
  • Must have a C or better to advance to 2nd semester classes.

FERPA

  • Student academic information can be released to parents as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) requirements are taken care of during the application and onboarding process.

College Transfer Equivalency

  • Before enrolling in these courses, visit your future college or universities website to check transfer course equivalency.
  • Most colleges and universities in Arkansas will accept these courses and they will transfer. Many out of state colleges will as well.
  • If the courses do not transfer, you will receive credit, but will have to take the math class that is needed for your degree program at that institution.

Tuition and Semester Registration Fees

  • NWACC charges Har-Ber a reduced tuition rate for classes taught on Har-Ber’s campus.
  • In district tuition $32 per credit hour�(Benton County Resident)�Total of $96 per class
  • Out-of-district tuition $58 per credit hour�(Washington County Resident) �Total of $174 per class
  • Students are also required to pay a Semester Registration Fee: $30/per semester

NWACC does plan to raise tuition for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Tuition Waiver

  • If a student receives free or reduced lunch, they qualify for up to 6 hours of tuition waived by our district.
  • Anything taken beyond the six hours is the responsibility of the student/parent.
  • Tuition waivers do not apply to online classes through NWACC, only classes offered at Har-Ber High School.

NWACC Scholarship Opportunities

Arkansas Concurrent Scholarship Criteria

  • You must be in 10th - 12th grade, an Arkansas resident, and provide SS# and birthdate when applying online to NWACC
  • The scholarship is awarded in the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • The scholarship will cover $125 per course for up to 2 courses per semester. (Tuition reduced to $49 per course)
  • Students who apply could receive $250 per semester/$500 per year.
  • The student must earn a 2.5 or better in their courses to receive the scholarship the following semester.
  • If NWACC GPA is lower than 2.5, the following semester students are only allowed the scholarship for up to 1 class and full tuition will be due for a 2nd class.

Dropping Courses

  • NWAAC drop deadlines and Har-Ber drop deadlines are different.
  • Students must drop NWACC courses by the end of the 1st 9 weeks in October 2024 (fall semester) or end of the 3rd 9 weeks in March 2025(spring semester) in order to be placed in a grade equivalent class and receive credit for the remainder of the semester.
  • If a student plans to drop, parent & student need to have a conference and complete an official drop form with their counselor at HBHS.
  • Any student that drops after the 1st 9 weeks will not receive credit for the remainder of the semester, and that failing grade will be on their transcript. Their schedule will be changed in order to complete graduation requirements.
  • If student drops the course past NWACC’s full-refund date, then student will still be responsible for tuition for that class that semester.

Student Expectations

  • The workload and quality of work expectations of concurrent courses is equivalent to an AP course.
  • These classes are taught at the same rate of any college class on NWACC’s campus.
  • Teachers who teach these courses must have accelerated degrees in their subject area in order to teach the course.
  • Students need to be prepared for quick pace instruction.
  • Deadlines must be met in order for student success.
  • We advise students to stay in constant communication with their instructors where they have concerns related to their courses.

Class Registration Process

  • In order for students to register, they will need to complete ALL enrollment steps.

    • Must be eligible (3.0 GPA & Required Test Scores)
    • Apply to NWACC Online as a “Concurrent Student”
    • Set up MyNWACC account and complete Workday Tasks
    • Turn in Har-Ber “Concurrent Course Agreement” page and Free/Reduced Lunch “Waiver Request” Page (if applicable)
    • Make sure College Course Requests are in HAC

All items must be turned into Counseling Center by Friday, May 29th.

Tuition & Semester Registration Fees

  • Tuition & Registration Fees are payable to HAR-BER HIGH SCHOOL
  • Due to Har-Ber High School by the 10th day after the start of the course
  • Payments can be made on our Online School Payment system with credit card or by check/cash in the Counseling Center room A-100
  • If you qualify for Free / Reduced lunch, your tuition is waived for up to 6 hours of courses (2 courses)
  • Most students do receive the Arkansas Concurrent Scholarship which reduces tuition to $49 per course (There is no application for this scholarship. Please enter valid SS# and DOB when applying to NWACC)
  • Tuition totals are subject to change and you may owe more in tuition if your student does not qualify for the scholarship or takes online classes through NWACC.

Credits

  • Students must complete their concurrent course with a D or higher to receive dual credit (HS transcript and College transcript).
  • Students cannot move to the next college level course unless they earn a C or better in the course.
  • Students will earn 1 full credit on their HS transcript for each semester.
  • Concurrent classes are not weighted courses, but 2 courses will count as an equivalent for an honors designation.
