Network Hardware Refresh

New Switches and Access Points.

Back in October 2022 we started the process with the board to replace our outdated network equipment which included:

  • HP branded equipment. HP rebranded its network division as Aruba in 2015.
  • Many of our switch models, HP 5400 and 2900 series, started their “End of Service” cycle in 2018 and 2019. That means 5 years from the EoS announcement, the equipment will reach “End of Life” and no more updates will be issued.
  • Our Aruba Access Points AP-225 are EOL October 2025.
  • The version of Clearpass, which controls and manages the access points, was end of service was 08-2017. These software was only on a 2 year EoS cycle instead of 5.

Through E-Rate the district was able to purchase new Ruckus equipment at a cost of $224,866.

Unfortunately, supply chain issues caused delays in shipping. We did not receive everything until after winter of the 23/24 school year.

  • The technology department was able to remove all the old network equipment while simultaneously installing the new equipment.
