CAP Completion Teams Launch

Implementation Timeline

Fall 2020

CAP Completion Teams Recommendation Approved, Prioritized by Cabinet

Approved by Academic Senate, identified as an institutional priority by Cabinet to launch Completion Teams for all 8 MPC CAPs in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Completion Teams Implementation Group (CTIG) Formed

CTIG, made up of administrators, faculty, and classified professionals, began building the framework for the establishment of Completion Teams at MPC.

Data Coaching Academy Launch

MPC’s first cohort of 8 faculty data coaches completed the Data Coaching Academy in preparation to serve on CAP Completion Teams.

Campus Engagement and Preparation

GP Faculty Coordinators engaged with various CAP Completion Team membership groups across campus in preparation for the kickoff while also finalizing team charges and resources for team leads. PRIE & IT worked to build reports that will provide initial student data for Completion Teams.

8 CAP Completion Teams will begin meeting and engaging in the charges and key activities identified for phase one.

What are CAP Completion Teams?

Completion Teams are committee style work teams that bring together administrators, discipline faculty, counseling faculty, academic support experts, and student services specialists to collaboratively and intentionally engage in outcome based inquiry and action focused on increasing the success of all students and programs within a CAP.

Meetings & Lead Structure

  • Meet twice per month, for 90 minutes
    • Meeting days/times
  • Completion Teams will be led by a dean and 1-2 other co-leads to be identified by the team
  • Co-lead positions are open to all members of the team, including faculty and classified professionals

Phase One Key Activities

Completion Teams will be implemented in a phased in approach.

  • Phase one launch: Spring 2022
  • Phase one priorities & key activities will include:
    • Establishing norms and goals within the team
    • Developing a shared understanding of equity
    • Accurately identifying students within the CAP
    • Examining initial student data
    • Identifying areas of interest and inquiry
    • Prioritizing and developing plans for inquiry
    • Supporting success and retention of students within a CAP
