Welcome message
WIS was set up in 2016 to provide a high-quality education for children in the local area. We deliver the British curriculum within a UAE context.
At WIS we always strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment. We see parents as partners in their child’s learning and we look forward to working closely with you all this year.
In KG2 we do a wide variety of activities covering all areas of the curriculum. We also think it’s very important to have fun whilst learning so we incorporate play and creative lessons throughout the week also.

A weekly Newsletter is posted on Dojo every Friday. The Newsletter gives an overview of the learning that has taken place for that week as well as, a look ahead to the next week. Check the newsletter to keep up to date with what the students are doing in school and what work can be done at home.
Example Timetable
Homework
In KG2 we provide a homework menu. The menu sets out a selection of meaningful learning activities that build on your child’s in-class lessons. The activities are weighted by points, ranging from mild to fiery; the hotter the chilli the more time your child will have to spend on the activity, but also the more points they will earn.
We expect that children attempt at least one English and one maths activity a week. It would also be beneficial to do another, additional activity from the curriculum, for example science or humanities. Additional homework activities can also be found on the parents drive, at the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1auf9nqIb5Tps3Tm9EFebcr-z7gRtZq4n?usp=sharing
Children who attempt the homework menu, will receive dojo points and a certificate at the end of term.

Trips and Visits this year
This year we are aiming to bring students on a least one trip per term. These trips will be both educational and fun for the students. They are a great way for the students to bring their learning outside the classroom.
Term 1 we are planning a trip to Junior Jumper where kids will be giving the opportunity to create long lasting memories with their classmates in a safe indoor freestyle playground. More details will be giving closer to the time of the trip.
Extra Curricular Activities
At Wales International School we are proud to offer a wide range of activities to enhance the children's experiences at school. From arts and crafts, to sports clubs, quiz club and Qu’ran club, the children can choose an activity that inspires and ignites their imagination.
We also have a number of children who are regularly taking part in activities in the community and we would love to share in their successes with them.
Absence and lateness
Children need to be in school by 7:45 am so that they do not miss assembly and the National Anthem at the start of the day. Please ensure that your child arrives at school ontime.
School finishes at 2:30pm
If your child is unwell and is unable to come to school, please message your child’s teacher on dojo or contact Miss Nessma or Mr Mostafa. Children should bring a signed sick note into school when they are well enough to return.
